awagami factory, fine paper and stationery manufacturers from tokushima, japan are proud to announce the launching of their new stationery line "awagami+1" at paperworld 2008, frankfurt .... collaborative effort between awagami's creative team and american designer craig anczelowitz, the awagami+1 collections consist of journals, albums, and desk accessories which harmoniously fuse traditional japanese craftsmanship with elements of simplified western design.
3 collections will be presented at paperworld (hall 4.2 stand 68):
- yuzen spring and autumn + featuring sophisitcated hand printed "yuzen" papers from Kyoto.
- organic syuro + featuring awagami's new earthen "syuro" (palm) papers.
about awagami factory:
for nearly 200 years, the fujimori family have faithfully kept alive the time honored craft of "awa washi" japanese papermaking. awagami washi was first commercialized by chiyozo fujimori and later passed on to his grandson, 6th generation master papermaker minoru fujimori. In 1970, minoru and awagami factory were designated as an intangible cultural property of tokushima prefecture and today awagami is led by 7th generation, yoichi fujimori and his family.
