The paper and "books" as media for circulation of information has been changed their forms to append more of beauty and sophistication by emerge of electric medium. An experiment to see and create "books" from a new point of view is "Book Art". This "Book Art" has started since more than 30 years ago in the US, and it has been attracting a great deal of attention throughout the world.
Mr. Robert Roesch (Chief director, department of sculpture at Pennsylvania University) and Ms. Suzanne Reese Horvitz (leading authority of "Book Art") are invited through Kyoto Kogei Seni University to have their exhibition and workshops at several locations in Japan and we are honored to have this precious opportunity to hold their lecture at our washi kaikan (The hall of Awa Japanese handmade paper).
At this lecture, Mr. Roesch and Ms. Horvitz will introduce the basics through the cutting edge of "Book Art" in the US with their stories and slides.
Also, Ms. Kyoko Ibe, Washi artist from Kyoko will join this lecture and this should be exciting opportunity to hear her talks as well.
