Lamp work done on Awagami by Mari Sakabe at Shomei Juku won a prize of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of City of Nishinomiya.
Instructor at Shomei Juku of making handmade lamp, Mari Sakabe's work won a prize of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of City of Nishinomiya.
She had an inspiration from flowers for this work and the title called R. All frames are made by curved lines, and lamp paper and rayon paper with flower pattern are used. You can see through the yellowish paper from the inside and the flower pattern of rayon paper seems floating on the top.
Ms. Sakabe says I tried to make a full use of the texture of Awagami and my concept of making a work of 'the lamp work which the lamp itself lights up'.
