In the Autumn as persimmon trees begin to bear fruit its time at Awagami to think about 'Kakishibu' (natural persimmon tannin). This rich brown pigment has been used for waterproofing Japanese paper umbrellas since antiquity and recently kakishibu has come back into fashion as an eco-friendly colorant for clothing and accessories. The covers of these 3 book variations are all hand-dyed with multiple layers of kakishibu to bear a lovely brown pattern. Each book has 19 thick washi pages and may be used for drawing, collaging, stamping & journaling, as a photo album or as a unique guest book.
